Back in December a casual Christmas dinner party went from 12-20 quickly! We already owned these adorable Santa Placemats. They combined red, green and....PINK! Running with the red theme we added pops of pink throughout the flower arrangements, gifts at the top of the place setting and even found wrapping paper with a touch of pink.
Due to the amount of people sitting around the table, our normal big comfortable chairs were not going to provide enough space. Instead, we chose to rent gold chiavari chairs. Not only did the gold match the rims on the formal glasses but they were a smaller scale chair. We were then able to fit 20 chairs easily!
We loved creating this Baby Shower! Each place setting had a napkin wrapped around a gift like a diaper. The gifts were little calendars and pens. Everyone was to mark when they thought the baby would arrive!
Our signature for all Baby Showers is adding the gifts right onto the table! Sounds silly right? When you look at the table, there are pink stuffed animals and cute little books used as decorations. The future mom being honored kept all these little extras as part of her gift. Great way to add to the table!
The gold square vases we transformed into baby blocks by adding ribbon trim on the edges and adorable little letters on each side. Flowers combined different colors of pinks and oranges. The gold terrariums contained moss and a single flower. We hung them from the chandelier and placed some down the table. I love the shapes because they didn't obstruct the guests view and still added geometric shapes.
HINT: Any time you are decorating a table, try to use a combination of round soft objects and sharp geometric shapes. Like the round cake stand paired with a square vase. It created contrast. This allowed the guests to stay intrigued while waiting for food or games.
Using battery operated lights saved a lot of time and money for the 150 person Christmas Party at Paradise Valley. The greenery and flowers were donated by the Orinda Garden Club. Big thank you!! Without the amaryllis flowers, we would have missed out on a much need pop of red 2-3 feet high on the tables.
Each person received an etched glass, lindon candies and of course a festive candy cane as the napkin ring. Details like this make such a difference! At every event it is important for the guests to feel welcomed and special. A simple gift at a place setting is like saying "thank you for coming."
For squadron events like this we try to stay on a tight budget. Dollar Tree has candy canes in boxes of 12 every year around Christmas time. This allowed us to only spend a little over $0.08 per person for an extra touch of red on the napkins.
Halloween can be fun without spending hundreds! The main decorations for Halloween 2017 were paper, plastic and paint. Cut out paper bats and use tape to create a 3D scene on a big wall. Use black plastic bags to make large spider webs. The webs would have been amazing on an entire wall or even a ceiling! Spray painting wine bottles for the food and drink table is simple and gives any candle sticks you have a dark spooky feel.
I even found cheap spooky pictures in frames at the Dollar Tree. I added them up the stairs and replaced random paintings around the house. There wasn't a lot of time for details this year but even this small amount of decorating added a lot to our Halloween Party.
Here is a great way to combine birthday using mostly paper cut outs and some classic hot glue. We made small cacti using paper and glue. Then we placed cactus margarita glasses down the table and put marbles, small cacti cut outs and little flowers in them. The margarita glasses were our tallest height for this luncheon because we wanted the guests to be able to see each other across the table. The chandelier is adorned with paper chain links in orange and blue to match the numbers on the table.
